Do You Need To Have A Lyme Disease Test?

Lyme disease is a condition that is characterized by several different symptoms. However, one of the aspects of lyme disease is that there is no one defining symptom that shows up in every case. However, there are several symptoms that are fairly common and indicate that a lyme disease test may be in order. Here are some examples of when you may want to talk to your doctor about having a lyme disease test.

One fairly common occurrence with lyme disease is the appearance of a red irritated area at the site of the tick bite that most likely caused the lyme disease. In many cases, the irritation is also accompanied by a bright red rash that appears in the area surrounding the bite. If you notice the appearance of the bite mark and a rash that seems to resist over the counter creams, then asking for a lyme disease test may be in order.

Another fairly common symptom is developing a fever accompanied by headaches for non apparent reason. The fever is often a low grade type, just enough to make you feel tired. Should you find yourself having to deal with this sort of a low grade temperature day after day, then checking with the doctor to see if a lyme disease test in indicated is a good idea.

Last, going from being fairly energetic to feeling worn out constantly may also indicate that the time has come for a lyme disease test. One of the more common symptoms is feeling fatigued, even after getting a good night's rest. While everyone goes through a day or two feeling somewhat run down, anyone that seems to have a constant state of fatigue lasting several days should check with a doctor and request a lyme disease test. Doing so will help put your mind at ease, and also allow a series of treatments to commence that will help bring the condition under control.
